2024 Fantasy Outlook
Patrick last played in 2021. He was entering 2022 off a pair of similar seasons in which he averaged 52 catches, 738 yards, 5.5 touchdowns and 82 targets. At that point, Patrick had been in the league for four years. The receiver appeared to be a player on the rise. Then, bad luck struck. During the 2022 preseason, Patrick suffered a season-ending knee injury. As he looked to return the following year, Patrick tore his Achilles in August of 2023. Coming off a pair of lost seasons, it’s difficult to know what ability level the 30 year old will be playing. If Patrick could win a starting role and play at his 2020-2021 level, he could be a value in fantasy drafts. Accepts pay cut
Patrick (Achilles) and the Broncos have an agreement to alter his contract for 2024, Nick Kosmider of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
The first two seasons of Patrick's three-year, $30 million contract were wiped out by severe injuries during training camp -- an ACL tear in 2022 and then a torn Achilles' tendon in 2023. He's now 30 years old and entering the final year of the extension, so he presumably would've been released if he hadn't agreed to lower his $9.5 million base salary for 2024. While never a high-volume pass catcher, Patrick had 742 yards and six TDs on 79 targets in 2020 (64.6 percent catch rate, 14.5 YPC, 9.4 YPT), followed by 734 yards and five TDs on 85 targets in 2021 (62.4 percent, 13.8 YPC, 8.6 YPT).

Salary restructure ahead?
Jeff Legwold of ESPN.com believes that the Broncos should look to renegotiate Patrick's contract for salary cap relief during the offseason.
ANALYSIS
Patrick has missed the last two seasons due to significant injuries. He tore his right ACL during training camp in 2022, and after spending that season rehabbing, he tore his Achilles ahead of the 2023 campaign. Legwold notes that Patrick carries a $15.57 million salary cap charge, though the wide receiver has no guaranteed money left on the three-year, $29.25 million contract he signed in November of 2021. Given Patrick's injury history and salary cap hit, the Broncos could elect to try and restructure his contract or move on from the four-year wideout out of Utah.
