2024 Fantasy Outlook
For the fourth time in five seasons with the Giants, Slayton posted between 46-50 catches and 724-770 yards. Despite playing on an offense that used three quarterbacks while also having terrible offensive line play, Slayton was the best receiver the Giants had. The highlight of Slayton’s season was the last four weeks. During that time, he scored three of his four touchdowns. Slayton also averaged 80 yards during that stretch. It may be difficult for the wideout to match his past success after the Giants selected Malik Nabers in the first round of the draft. Nabers will likely dominate targets, which will likely cut into opportunities that Slayton would have otherwise had. As a result, the veteran may see an inconsistent target share from week-to-week. RANKS
Likely to remain starter
Slayton (thumb) is expected to open the season as a starting wideout opposite rookie first-round pick Malik Nabers, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
ANALYSIS
Slayton refused to report to voluntary offseason workouts, as he's entering the final season of a two-year contract and is seeking an extension. The Giants, however, haven't budged, and the team used the sixth overall pick in last week's draft to take Nabers after using a third-round pick on Jalin Hyatt in 2023. While Slayton is the favorite to open the summer as a starter on the outside, the team likely hopes Hyatt can push the veteran for snaps and targets in his second season. Nabers is the most talented receiver of the lot and could quickly prove to be the No. 1 option in the passing game.

Confident in contract resolution
Slayton, who remains away from the Giants' voluntary offseason workouts as he seeks a contract restructure, describes himself as "confident" that a resolution will eventually be reached, Jordan Raanan of ESPN.com reports.

2019
Slayton started 24 of 30 games his first two seasons despite being a fifth-round pick in 2019, combining for 1,491 yards and 11 TDs while averaging 15.2 yards per catch. He then fall out of favor and down the depth chart in 2021, before being revived in 2022 -- 724 yards on 71 targets, with 11 starts in 16 games -- under new coach Brain Daboll. Slayton wasn't even a volume receiver in college at Auburn and is unlikely to become ever one in the NFL, but he's been a capable field-stretcher for most of his career while making good on his 4.39 40 time for the 2019 Scouting Combine. He does have snap competition this year, with fellow 2022 starter Isaiah Hodgins returning, Jalin Hyatt drafted in the third round and free-agent signing Parris Campbell potentially getting a chance to play outside at some point. Slayton re-signed with the Giants on a two-year, $12 million contract, but there's no guaranteed money in the second season and only $4.9 million guaranteed at signing -- slightly more than Campbell got but still not a huge commitment.
